Latest updates:

March 24th, 2024:

Verification Transparency:

  • No community members were involved in verification to ensure fairness.
  • All manual verification was conducted by CW or project teams.
  • Verification was completed entirely by humans (acknowledging Iain's outstanding contribution of reviewing 17,000 missions in a single day).
  • Policies were applied uniformly to everyone.

Important Notes:

  • Verification relies on data sourced from platforms themselves, not user-provided screenshots.
  • Known issues exist with data retrieval from Twitter and Discord due to platform limitations. We're investigating improvements.
  • Accusations of scams require evidence, otherwise they violate community guidelines and may lead to bans.

Lessons Learned:

  • We will improve how and when XP awards and bonuses are displayed to avoid confusion.
  • We will not allow future corrections of incorrect social media or email information.
  • We will not allow retries on failed missions due to the high potential for abuse.

Future Improvements:

  • Increased and more robust automation and verification.
  • Enhanced security measures.
  • Introduction of new mission types.
  • Improved user experience with clearer instructions.
  • More anti-bot measures.
  • Streamlined processes for publishing/unpublishing missions and quests.
  • Revised approach to mandatory mission qualification.

Transparency Initiatives:

  • We plan to share behind-the-scenes details, including a breakdown of invalidation reasons and mission reports, in the coming weeks.

How are experience points (XP) calculated?

All participants must complete the 45 mandatory mission (3 per project) in order to earn a place on the leaderboard.

You get rewarded XP for completing Missions. Each Mission is worth 5 XP.

XP for successful Missions is granted immediately. However, during the verification process, if your Mission result is invalidated, the XP will be deducted from your score. You will be notified of any invalidated results and may re-try these Missions at any time during the promotion.

You only get rewarded for Quests when you complete all of the Missions in that particular Quest - an extra 10 XP. There is also a bonus if you complete all of the Quests for a given project (20 XP). Completion bonuses for Quest & Project are only awarded in the third and final week of the promotion when most of the verification process is complete. This is to prevent massive daily fluctuations in the leaderboards as missions are invalidated and as a consequence both Quest and Project bonuses have to be removed.

Some missions have have their XP awards increased during the promotion to bring attention to some missions over others. In this case, only new participants completing the mission receive the increased XP award.

There will one off or bonus missions run in conjunction with our partners during the promotion. Keep an eye on the Common Wealth social channels for more info.

Some missions may be removed for various reasons during the course of the promotion. In such cases it will be longer be possible for new participants to complete these missions. In the case of the Fairside missions where their 3 mandatory missions were removed, 3 replacement mandatory mission were added to other projects (OP Games, Mayryk, Rabbet) to compensate and to ensure that new participants can still complete the minimum number of missions to qualify. Participants who previously completed Fairside missions will keep all of their XP for their successfully completed missions.

Unfortunately, not all Missions will complete verification before the promotion ends on March 13th, and therefore those Missions can NOT be re-tried. The verification process is expected to complete on March 23rd when winners will be announced.

At the end of the promotion we will display a final scorecard for each participant breaking down where their XP came from during the promotion.

This is a promotion which means XP awards and availability of missions and bonuses will vary by time and channel - both at the request of the projects sponsoring this fund as well as by design to help alleviate score-banding. In all non-skill-based ranking systems score-banding is a distinct possibility. A combination of approaches have been taken in designing the missions to minimise such chances - but in the case were it does occur we use algorithmic. randomised tie-breakers as a sorting hat, if you will, to determine the unique winners in that band. Those de-selected in this process will then be bumped down to next prize tier.

How are my answers verified?

Missions are awarded XP immediately upon completion. However, XP can and will be deducted during the automated and manual verification process for some / all of the following reasons:

  • incorrect social profile details provided
  • missing social profile details
  • incorrect or bad quality image uploads
  • incorrect answers provided

Some auto-verification process runs hourly - while a full scan is run every 3 days. Any invalidated mission results have their XP deducted from your total. You may re-try these missions at your leisure.

Missions invalidated due to incorrect or missing social profiles will be able to correct their social profiles until March 10th using the form linked above. Once your corrected social profiles are run through the next verification pass you will be automatically awarded the XP earned.

Please note the Quest and Project completion bonuses are NOT calculated in real-time and are not included in your current running total. Completion bonuses for completing all missions in a Quest and completing all Quests in a Project - will be added only near the end of the competition (Mon 11th) to avoid seismic shifts on the leaderboard rankings in a daily basis as when a mission is invalidated, so is the Quest and Project completion bonus associated with it. (See example below)

We verify or invalidate Mission results using a variety of approaches.

In some cases, you will be asked to upload proof of completion such as cutting and pasting a line of text you were sent to find for example or a screenshot of the completed task.

The verification process will start on the first day of the promotion and will conclude a maximum of 10 days after the promotion finishes on March 13th to allow for verification of all Missions, including anti-cheat analysis, to the satisfaction of the team and the Projects.

API-obtained and text results are compared automatically. Screenshots are verified manually. The On-chain Quest and some Website Quest Missions require project team input to verify mission completion.

  • After data is gathered from 10+ sources it is aggregated and stored for comparison against submitted proofs. Automated verification is a multi-part process done in waves.
First wave simply verifies if your profile is real or not and if it can be found in the social channel
  • Second wave verifies presence & accuracy your submission.
    • this may require manual review
    • this may require input from project depending on mission and verification
  • Third wave double checks your submission for accuracy and verification result.

Various security scans are performed along the way. Any proofs we can not categorically validate either automatically or manually will be rejected.

Sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances we have to unpublish missions or change mandatory missions. In such cases, there will be a temporary lag in syncing our systems and it may appear you have lost previously awarded XP but this will be corrected in a future verification run. Please be assured not a single person has yet lost a single XP.

Please also note that when the promotion completes March 13th there will be a 2 week verification period when we will aim to address any outstanding concerns not covered above. Please be patient.

Help! My account got suspended because of suspected cheating - what can I do?

If you tried to access the platform and were greeted with a pop-up window telling you were blocked from the platform and from participating in the Free Fund competition - this is because one or more security systems have flagged or confirmed your profile and/or your mission proofs as suspect.

We carry out multiple anti-cheat, anti-bot and integrity checks on a frequent basis and have a zero-tolerance policy for anyone suspected of cheating or trying to circumvent security constraints. If you believe you have been flagged in error please contact us using the chat/support widget and we will do our best to review your case at the end of the promotions, time permitting.

What happened to the Fairside project's missions?

Due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to remove the remaining Fairside project missions for the remaining duration of the promotion. Three new mandatory missions have been assigned instead for new and unqualified participants to complete in order to claim their spot on the leaderboard. If you had already completed 45 mandatory missions you DO NOT need to complete these new missions - only unqualified users will need to complete these 3 new missions to qualify. If you had previously completed the any of the mandatory missions for Fairside, whether mandatory or optional, you will still be credited with the XP for successful completion.

I made a mistake when adding my social profile, can I change it?

Not any longer. You could correct your social profiles one time during the promotion - but the form to do so closed at midnight on March 10th.

Will there be any more information forthcoming about XP calculations, leaderboard placements, verification process, score-banding prevention or other competition minutiae?

No, there will not.

I tried uploading a screenshot and immediately got an 'invalidation' error

The application cache, which is used to boost performance, is refreshed every five minutes - so if we publish new missions it may take up to 5 minutes for the system to update and everything to work fine. During these couple of minutes, users may experience an "Invalid photo" message. Simply wait a few minutes and try again.

What happens if I used a different wallet in the Beta than the wallet I used to register in the app after Feb 20th?

All users will have the ability to add other wallets to their profiles in the app for Feb 21st, including any test wallets they used for Beta testing or for completing the Missions in the Free VC Fund promo. Should it not be ready for day one, it will come soon after, don't worry. Users who participated in more than one phase of the Beta can add all of their wallets to their profile - however, for the purposes of the Free Fund missions tasks completed during the beta will only be rewarded once.

So to get bonus XP points for being both a beta tester and NFT holder please do the following:

1. Register in the live application with the SAME email you registered with during beta testing.

2. Import the wallet address you used during beta testing.

3. Import the wallet address that holds your Genesis NFTs.

How does the Free Fund work?

The world’s first ever completely free venture capital fund is comprised of 15 of our first portfolio companies. These are promising high potential projects launching soon that were recommended by CW’s Oracles. Each project donated an allocation of tokens to the fund, totalling ~$2.4M, in return for which we will run our first Promote rewards program - providing valuable All Street marketing power to the projects as they gear up for market entry.

Winners will either receive a Slice of the Free Fund (FundNFT) or be included in an airdrop distribution of $1.05M equivalent of $WLTH.

Do I need to have a Genesis NFT to participate in the Free VC fund?

Anyone can participate following the rules found within the support knowledge base. The NFT provides further utilities to the Common Wealth ecosystem.
What can I do currently to participate?

Register in the app and begin completing your Quests!

What’s the difference between a Quest and a Mission?

Missions are simple tasks usually based on completing an action on a project’s social media channels to promote the project. Quests are groups of related Missions.

All projects have 5 Quests, one per social media channel - and each Quest has 3 or more Missions to complete. You get rewarded XP for completing Missions.

Each Project has a mandatory set of Missions that must be completed in order to qualify for the leaderboard.

How do I claim my prize?

You will not need to do anything to claim your winners prize. Prizes will be air-dropped to winners wallets either just before or after TGE. The 1,060 winners of Slices of Common Wealth’s inaugural Free Fund will have their NFTs minted before TGE when the fund is deployed on the zkSync Era mainnet.

What have you done to protect against bot interference?

We combine a number of anti-bot techniques and technologies aimed at identifying and preventing bots from disrupting a fair, competitive process. We use a suite of Cloudflare services including a relatively non-intrusive non-captcha system and is also backed up by battle-tested AI-powered analysis and scanning. We also use on-chain analytics and have some automated detection during mission verification on the backend.

How do fees work for the Free Fund?

There are no investors in the Free Fund, only winners.

Therefore there are NO upfront or ongoing management/operational fees for the Free Fund!

Usually, on Common Wealth a 10% platform fee is deducted during investment to run the platform and protocol but is then repaid to the investor when the fund breaks even - another world first for a VC fund, btw.

The remaining royalty fees paid to the protocol are calculated as usual on profits after the fund break-even point has been reached and investors have been made whole. Staking $WLTH to reduce fees will also work the same as normal.

How does staking for discounted fees work for the Free Fund?

Staking $WLTH to reduce fees will also work the same as normal. The $WLTH token itself will be minted together at TGE. The airdrop of $WLTH date to the winners is still TBC.

When do we get the Slice and how?

Slices and $WLTH rewards will be sent directly to the users wallets that are registered on the platform. No action is required. Exact dates are TBD

Slice airdrop estimated on 22nd April (tier 1-3)

WLTH airdrop estimated around mid-April (tier 4)

Do I need to claim anything?

There is no need to do anything actively to receive your Slice. Just make sure you are connected to the Base network. If you are new to Base, please read here:

https://docs.base.org/docs/

Do we get the project tokens to our wallet?

No, only the Slice. The project tokens are sent to the protocol which permissionlessly and in an non-custodial fashion, liquidates these tokens over time (based on an algorithm, using volume and price metrics) into stable coins. See (link to above answer) for more information.

Do I get $WLTH tokens airdropped to me if I’m in Tiers 1 - 3?

The $WLTH airdrop is for Tier 4 winners only. However, Common Wealth is one of the 15 Free Fund projects, meaning $WLTH tokens will be vested to the Free Fund over time, liquidated, and stable coins paid out to the Slice holder wallets. Again, this is all a permissionless system governed by the Common Wealth smart-contract design.
